“Come to the Waters”

Every Tuesday noIMG_0586on I have been reading through Isaiah. These verses from Isaiah 55 really stuck with me: “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food” (Isaiah 55:1-2; ESV). Then verse 6 says, “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near” (ESV). Why do I seek that which does not satisfy? Only the Lord can bring satisfaction to the deepest thirst of our souls. Christmas season can be a time that turns our attention to the glitter of that which can not satisfy. To set aside the “stuff” and the anticipation of gatherings and to sit at the feet of Jesus brings fulfillment. To ponder the depths of His love, that He came to earth  to die for me, brings satisfaction.
